With the end of August only a couple days away, it’s time to start thinking ahead to the cooler months to come – and the heavier-weight outfit options that’d be perfect to navigate this increasingly frigid season. Hitting stores on 29 August, Superdry’s Autumn/Winter 2017 collection couldn’t have come at a better time, with its “prairie meets punk” aesthetics making it an easy hit for all of our autumnal essentials.

Reworking its signature urban style with retro-athletic influences, this season finds the contemporary British brand exploring new ways of incorporating the vintage Americana details we’ve come to covet. In addition to camo and check prints, they emblazon bold badges, varsity letters and punchy appliqués – and the denim they’ve introduced this season takes on a turn toward the rugged, worn and ready.

Here are three must-haves of the season.

Fundamental to any wardrobe, denim is the most basic essential to consider before moving on to the heavier side of an autumn-winter ensemble. This season, Superdry builds onto their throw-on-and-go attitude with a roughed-up array of denim options, from relatively lightweight jackets (perfect for transitional outerwear) to jeans that come with that come with that already lived-in comfort we all want. This collection is chock full of strong denim options – so let’s start there.

Next up is the much-to-be-desired edge that Superdry brings to their outerwear options. With an increased focus on down this season, the Autumn/Winter 2017 collection also includes new shapes, colours and several standout details – an upgrade that’s all about utility. As functionality takes lead with army-inspired details, ranging from protective hoods and practical pockets to military-style fastenings and adjusters, it’s the new Rookie Military Parka Jacket that stands out amongst the rest.

It’s a no-brainer that, when it comes to Superdry, the vintage prints are a hands-down must-have. This time, equally inspired by the styles of a 1970s ski chalet and 1990s England, the graphics this season have gone non-stop nostalgic. From the all-over logo prints on long-sleeve jumpers and zip-up hoodies, to the retro varsity emblems, the autumn-winter prints are a high-impact urban addition to the transitional wardrobe full of layering potential.
